Camera settings

This picture represents the current setup of a camera when your about to take a picture. We recommend you read your cameras manual to see the functions/setting available in your camera to see if you can use them. Here is a brief breakdown of this picture. We will go into depth later and explain what each setting is for and relates to in terms of the final result of the photo.

  1. AWB = Automatic White Balance    upper left
  2. 125 = Shutter speed
  3. 5.6 = aperture setting
  4. 31 = images remaining on camera
  5. 800 = ISO setting
  6. RAW = file type that the picture will be captured in.
  7. Square circle and dot = metering mode.
  8. One shot = auto focus drive.
  9. Multiple Frames = Frame rate/burst rate or timer.
  10. -2 —-+2 = Your exposure value compensation.

All these settings are determined by your what mode you are taking pictures in. Some modes have the setting preconfigured and some of them do not. We will discuss this more as we go into detail about the mode of a SLR camera.

NOTE   All information posted will be slightly different from camera to camera. I am using a canon 50d for all images. Please refer to your cameras manual to see how further posts may affect you.
